The weekend's over? Already?

Woah, it seems like it was just Monday, yesterday. Well, this weekend was a blur, a good blur, none the less. Saturday was busy, busy! I went with my long time friend, Mandi (the one I've known for 19 years!) to see Shrek 3. Who cares if we are in our 20's and didn't have any kids with us, I've seen every Shrek movie to date, and wasn't gonna miss the third one. It was hilarious! It might just be my favorite one so far, might be...I really do like all three.

Afterwards, we went to one of those traveling fairs that settle in the mall parking lots. No riding the rides though...they throw those things up WAY too fast for my liking. Just walked around, ignoring the luring from the carnies wanting us to play their games. It was such a pretty day Saturday, the perfect day to be outdoors. Then we finished up by running by Mickey D's to start our collection of the Shrek series glasses! Ha, I really am a nerd.

I came home early and supervised my dad taking out his stitches...shhhh...don't tell the doc that we did it ourselves. His lip is looking much better and starting to look like it's finally healing. Then at 7 p.m. sharp, we settled down in the living room and watched NASCAR, baby! It was the All-Stars race, and the qualifying races were the most entertaining...lots of wrecks! Daddy made his famous root beer floats too;o)

So on to Sunday...another wonderful church service, followed by a scrumptious lunch at one of our favorite "upscale burger joints" and a leisurely Sunday drive through the country. This is something our family has done for years, driving around different towns, looking at land or houses, imagining life in different parts of our state. Today we passed by an old country church that was having an old fashioned after church-outdoor potluck. It looked like so much fun!

Sunday afternoon:  home to change clothes, and over to Ash's house by 4 o'clock. Ashley helped me change my hair color...yes, again:) Now it's brown, lol. I have a highlighting kit and am thinking of adding some tomorrow. I'll post the final outcome picture sometime this week. I had dinner with her and Austin (yummy baked potato and salad bars, ending with strawberry cake!). So now, it's back home again, it's 9:00 and my wait begins. I have 2 1/2 hours until my sweetie can get on instant messenger and I can talk to him (isn't technology grand...even in Iraq!?) He's had guard duty for 24 hours and during that time, I never get to hear from him, so by the end of his shift, I am an antsy wife! Hehe...he doesn't even know that he has a brunette wife, instead of a blond wife yet:o) I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I will be around to visit soon!

Your weekend drives sound wonderful. What a great tradition. My hubby and I did that today, just the two of us, looking at some neighborhoods and model homes, just for fun. Some of the new homes are HUGE, and we joked about returning to our own little "Tara" at the end of the afternoon. Ah, home is where the heart is.

Sounds like your weekend was busy, but fun.

Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend.
We can't wait to see Shrek 3 here either.

Can't wait to see the photo of your new hair color.

I had Al help me cut my bangs last night. They were bothering me.

I also love baked potato bars(potatoes with all the fixins). Yummy!

So glad that you can keep in touch with your husband.

I loved the new Shreck movie too. My kids giggled constantly through it. I laughed at them sometimes instead of the movie.

Sounds like a great weekend, to me! :)
Your being a fan of Shrek reminds me of when my friends and I were in our late teens\early 20's and going to see the Muppet movies, then collecting the glasses! :D

I hope you had a nice "chat" with your sweetie.
When my hubby was on deployment during our newlywed days, we didn't have instant messanger, and not even e-mail access that first long six month- so awful! But the second deployment, at least we had e-mail...we'd do e-mail chats, sitting there for an hour, sending e-mails back and forth....sort of like "slow messenger"! LOL

Have a great week! :)

I just took my sister's stitches out last Friday. My mom got after her for it I guess...I haven't heard from mom yet (I'm sure I will). Hope you have a good chat with your hubby!

It sounds like you had a great weekend. When we were little, Daddy used to drive us around on Sundays, too. I loved that. I still miss it a little.

I have enjoyed both Shrek movies. I want to take the girls to the new one this week. I'm glad to hear you liked it.

As for the carnivals - when I was little, my parents took me to one of those. Daddy was on the merry-go-round with me and it started falling apart - literally! Daddy had to grab me and jump off the ride to keep us from being crushed. Needless to say, I have NEVER taken my children to one of those carnivals and let them ride the rides.

Me and Clay take weekend drives too :) We love to drive around and look at other towns, houses and dream about living there one day!
I also go to open houses...but maybe that's weird LOL.

I LOVE Shrek movies, I am waiting on pins and needles until I can get a babysitter so we can go the new one :)

What a fun weekend! I can't wait to see Shrek 3!

My mom is coming today and I told her I want her to color my hair! I usually do it at the salon, but my mom has been doing hers for years. I think Britt is a little worried about a "home color" job! LOL He is leaving to go out of town and I told him he may come back to a blond! Kidding of course!

I prayed for Jason this morning.

Have a great day!

Christie,

I have been meaning to comment on your blog for awhile now. My husband was over in Iraq for 15 months...well 12 months "boots on the ground" and I love to read about how excited you get to chat with Jason. Isn't it amazing?? My father in law was overseas a long time ago and all they could do was exchange letters. They were barely able to talk on the phone. Technology is great! I pray your husband stays SAFE and gets home real soon!!
